Just what should you choose?

Are you starting to think about what you want to do for a job in the future and checking out which subjects you may need?  It's never too early to do some career planning, but make sure you have lots of ideas at this stage - you may change your mind in the future. 

Remember, too, that the world of work is always changing. There will be jobs around in a few years that just don't exist at the moment - so it pays to find out as much as possible about the job market when you're planning your career.  

Starting points for Career Planning 

If you are at school contact your careers teacher who can refer you to the school careers adviser. They can help you with a range of issues related to learning and work including help with career choice, choosing your options and planning for your future. Ask at your school for help if you need it. You will also find lots of useful information specifically for 13-14 year olds on our WhatNowGlos website.

National Careers Service - With information on over 800 different jobs you should be able to get lots of ideas, and may just find the right one for you! You can find all about your job ideas including the pay, the training, and how to get a first foot on the ladder.
